Today, we officially began the GED stuff. I always forget to post this up the day of. Anyways, I didn't have the GED books, so I went online and printed out this reading comprehension thing for Lucy. I wanted to see where her reading level was since all the GED subjects were up to the 10th grade level. Her reading was pretty good, but answering the questions were a bit more difficult for her. I asked her about her math skills, and she says she knows the basics. I am a bit worried because I don't where I should really start. Will I be able to make a difference? It's weird because we are only meeting once a week and I am not so sure about myself.
After meeting twice with Lucy, I have learned a lot from her. She's not only a housekeeper, she is also a mother, a wife, and a student trying to earn a GED. She is playing so many roles and is still hanging in there. I still think it's amazing that she has so many goals and aspirations and is working towards them. She's trys really hard to learn teh English Language. I think she's just an amazing person. Funny now that I sit and think about it, I never really talked to the housekeepers at my apartment. I am always in a hurry somewhere. I sure they don't mind talking to the students, but guess I always felt a bit awkward.
Lucy is a very nice lady. I really hope that I can make a difference and be of help in someway.
